Sharon F. Smith LMFT
I am a CBT therapist. I offer a collaborative and goal-focused approach to therapy. The goal is to decrease the intensity and frequency of symptoms while increasing the client's ability to function more productively. When appropriate, I incorporate other modalitites into my treatment, such as Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment therapy. I work with adolescents, individuals, and couples. I particularly enjoy working with college and graduate students.
I have been in private practice since 1986 and have been treating clients with OCD since the early 1990's. Since that time I have participated in an ongoing consultation group. OCD is frequently a focal point of our discussions. In addition, I have also attended numerous OCD seminars. I use CBT, ERP and psychoeducation in my treatment approach. I also have OCD in my family and am aware of how debilitating it can be for the individual as well as the family members.
Diversity Statement:
I have taken several seminars in the past year.
