Naomi Pak PhD
In my private practice, I provide individual therapy to adolescents and adults with OCD, anxiety-related disorders, PTSD, and eating disorders. I utilize ERP with my OCD patients. I have specific expertise in treating the comorbidity of eating disorders and OCD. My caseload is about 60% OCD.
I specialize in treating the co-occurring disorders of eating disorders and OCD. I assess both disorders and how they maintain each other. Using ERP, I incorporate exposures that target both. I also focus on addressing overlapping mechanisms including perfectionism and intolerance of uncertainty.
During my pre-doctoral internship, I received intensive training in ERP at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital Center for OCD and Anxiety under the supervision of Dr. Patrick McGrath, an IOCDF Scientific Advisory Board member and NOCD Chief Clinical Officer. I worked on a multidisciplinary team providing individual and group therapy for adults with OCD and anxiety-related disorders. During my postdoctoral fellowship, I developed and co-managed the OCD track at the UCSD Eating Disorder Center to provide specialized treatment for patients with comorbid OCD. I also served as an OCD consultant to fellow providers.
My practice includes patients from various SES, race/ethnicity, ages, genders, and sexual orientations.
Throughout my training, I have worked with low-income, bicultural individuals and families. During my graduate research, I examined barriers to care among historically-marginalized populations and program development. In particular, I investigated and developed a parent training program to address the psychological outcomes and service utilization among Korean Americans. I have extensive experience working with 2nd-generation Korean Americans.
