Shurmatz Counseling offers services to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families around a variety of issues. We provide holistic, research-based treatments such as ACT, IFS, ERP, CBT, EMDR, and DBT. This practice provides both virtual and in-person services at multiple locations throughout the Buffalo, NY region.
In addition to treating OCD-spectrum disorders, I work with individuals with depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma. I use an integrated treatment approach that blends aspects from multiple therapeutic interventions to ensure that treatment focuses on the goals and needs of each individual.
I have worked with individuals with OCD and anxiety-related disorders for the last 3 years after training in ERP with The Center for OCD and Anxiety in Pennsylvania. I received additional extensive training in CBT/ERP through the Behavior Therapy Training Institute and the International OCD Foundation and am supervised by experts from the University of Chicago. I am also trained EMDR and ACT and have been working with individuals in outpatient behavioral health agencies and private practice for nearly ten years.
I have and continue to work with diverse and underrepresented populations, as well as receive regular multicultural training. My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and LGBTQIA+ positive.
