Narrative of Services:

I have treated 100’s of patients with OCD and related disorders. As of today, 15% of my patients have OCD with much of my practice focused on anxiety disorders. I use methods such as ERP, ACT and other contextual behavioral therapies. My approach is individualized rather than manualized.

Training Description:

I have treated patients with OCD since the beginning of my career. I attended Auburn University and received a Ph.D. degree in Clinical Psychology in 1984. My initial training was a a behavioral psychologist. I have engaged in continuing education throughout my career with specialized training including workshops and professional consultations in behavior therapy, exposure and response prevention therapy, prolonged exposure therapy, body-focused repetitive behaviors, cognitive behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy to name a few. As a Training Director, I supervise in these areas as well.

Diversity Statement:

The individual and cultural context of anyone I work with is an essential element of helping them. I get to know those I work with as people first and not just patients.

I have been directly involved in the development of activities and curricula for training in individual and cultural diversity, and I play several active roles in promoting equity, diversity and inclusion at our medical center and beyond. I have been the principle investigator for three federal training grants focused on addressing health care disparities due to cultural, economic and geographic barriers.
