Joseph D. Harwerth LCSW
OCD treatment holds a special place in my heart, as it is my primary specialty. I understand how distressing it can be to feel trapped by intrusive thoughts and compulsions. Many of my clients ask, “Why can’t I stop these thoughts?” or “I know this doesn’t make sense, so why does it feel so real? Why can’t I stop wanting to compulse?” People with OCD are among the most kind-hearted, hardworking people I’ve encountered. I find it a privilege to devote my efforts to support them with my best efforts.
I was clinically supervised for 2 years by Dr. Whitney Dyer who is the founder of OCD & Anxiety Recovery. I am trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), which is considered the gold standard for OCD treatment. I also integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and Inferenced-based CBT (I-CBT) into my client’s treatment plans.
