Joan Faier-Routman PhD
Originally trained as a child and family therapist with over 20 years of clinical experience, I strive to treat the whole person (and the family), not just their symptoms. The percentage of my practice devoted to treating people with OCD and OC-related disorders has varied from 25% – 60% over the years. I utilize CBT and ERP, in a systematic program to help the client achieve his/her goals. I am a firm believer in baby steps that make the necessary tasks user-friendly. I develop an individually-tailored therapeutic approach to address the unique needs of each client.
I have a doctorate in Clinical Psychology and I have been practicing for over 20 years. I have developed a sub-specialty in OCD during the past 10 years. I completed the Behavior Therapy Training Institute in 2009. I continue to stay informed by attending continuing education programs through the International OCD Foundation, the Anxiety Disorders Association of America, and other organizations offering continuing education programs to psychologists.
Diversity Statement:
Respect for cultural diversity has been part of my training from the very beginning. As trends shift, I try to stay abreast of these changes with continuing education.
