Joan Davidson PhD
I’m Co-Director of the San Francisco Bay Area Center for Cognitive Therapy, which is comprised of a team of clinicians with individual practices who consult together on a regular basis. I specialize in treating adults with OCD, anxiety (panic, agoraphobia, social anxiety, general anxiety and worry, and phobias), body-focused repetitive behaviors (trichotillomania [hair pulling] and skin picking), and problems such as perfectionism, procrastination, and managing stress. Over half of my practice is devoted to helping clients with OCD. I often work with clients outside of the office practicing ERP at their homes or workplace for extended and more frequent sessions.
I have treated clients with OCD for 22 years. As a Founding Partner and Co-Director of the San Francisco Bay Area Center for Cognitive Therapy, I’ve conducted workshops and trainings about treating OCD for over two decades, and I attend numerous conferences and workshops by leaders in our field. I wrote “Daring to Challenge OCD: Overcome Your Fear of Treatment and Take Control of Your Life using Exposure and Response Prevention,” which is based on over twenty years of staying current with the research, regularly participating in updated trainings, and gaining first-hand experience helping people with OCD achieve their goals.
