Shari I. Lusskin MD
Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
Narrative of Services:
As a reproductive psychiatrist specializing in psychopharmacology during pregnancy and breastfeeding, my work with OCD patients is primarily related to those who are planning to get pregnant, are currently pregnant, or are postpartum. I often refer patients to a clinical psychologist who is an expert in CBT, ACT, and ERPT for adjunctive treatment.
I am the Director of Psychopharmacologic Agents for the Reproductive Toxicology Center, a Non-Profit Foundation which operates Reprotox®, a computerized database on the reproductive and developmental effects of drugs including during pregnancy and lactation (www.reprotox.org). Training Description:
I have worked with OCD patients since 1986 when I completed an elective with Sir Isaac Marks at the Maudsley Hospital in London, during my 4th year of medical school. Professor Marks was one of the first clinicians to use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Exposure Response Prevention Therapy for patients with OCD.
