Casey Lester MD
Narrative of Services:
OCD is one of my top four specialties. My practice offers both medication management and psychotherapy. One unique aspect of my practice is that I utilize a therapy dog, which can help patients feel safe and comfortable, and can be a part of exposures for contamination OCD.
Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:
I also specialize in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), other anxiety disorders, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). As a psychiatrist with broad training I additionally treat a wide array of psychiatric comorbidities that are common in individuals with OCD.
Training Description:
My training includes a child & adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Stanford, a general psychiatry residency at UC-Riverside, and medical school at UC-San Diego. At Stanford I was a part of a clinic specialized in OCD and anxiety disorders. I also received training in Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) and Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) therapy at Stanford.
Diversity Statement:
I specialize in teens and young adults. However, I provide care for patients ages 6-50. I have special interests in veterinary professional mental health and Asian immigrant mental health.
I have lived as an immigrant in South Korea and am married to an immigrant. I care deeply about the immigrant experience. I trained in San Diego, Riverside, and Palo Alto, which afforded experience with people from many different cultural backgrounds.
